TONG LI

Designer, Educator, Researcher, Visual Illusionist...

My name is Tong Li. I am an assistant professor in Emerging Media Design and Development at Ball State University. I received my Ph.D. in Learning, Design, and Technology from the University of Georgia. I completed my post-doctoral fellowship at the Science of Learning and Educational Technology Lab at Arizona State University. My primary research focuses on designing serious games and learning simulations to promote inclusive learning and bring social justice to marginalized groups. I have led and contributed to several design-based research projects to create serious games and learning simulations to meet the needs of diverse learners.

A fun fact about me. I am also a magician and have been performing magic for over a decade. I received professional magic training from the Magic and Mystery School in Las Vegas, described by the BBC as the world's most prestigious magic school. As a design educator, I have dedicated myself to designing and evaluating a magic-based teaching method to promote design thinking and creativity. To know more about this method and related research, you can read those two news reports (UGA Magazine, UGA Today) or those two peer-reviewed studies(Article1, Article2).
